Friends of Kerr Layen

Friends of Kerr Layen was formed in 2021/2 in response to emergency need during Covid at the village of Kerr Layen central river region in The Gambia. The first response provided food and medical aid followed by significant planting of subsistence crops. After consultation with the village a plantation of over 500 Cashew trees was planted on five hectares of land. The plantation was fenced and a solar well and buildings provided.

Friends of Kerr Layen are a small group of benefactors who continue to provide for ongoing need and and emergency at the village and surrounding region, including food, medical support and education. Friends are a small focussed team providing direct support.

The Dorothy Foundation

The Dorothy Foundation aims to relieve poverty and look at ways of preventing violence in communities across West Africa. Our first area of work is the Rokel area which is east of Freetown, Sierra Leone. We have interested people in Ghana and Liberia who are also asking for us to work with them but lack of funding has prevented this so far. We aim to look at whole communities and work with local people to raise their living standards and give hope by involving them in decision making. In the Rokel area we are currently building a clinic and digging wells and developing a peace and education centre.
